Minot Area Community Foundation Announces Magic City Lions Scholarship Recipients

The Minot Area Community Foundation, in partnership with the Magic City Lions Club, is proud to announce the first-ever recipients of the Magic City Lions Scholarship.

This new scholarship opportunity was open to students residing in Minot or the surrounding areas who are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The 2025 scholarship recipients are Samantha Lentz of Minot, who will attend the University of North Dakota, and Rose Schiele of Balfour, who will attend Valley City State University. Each recipient received a $1,000 award.

“The Magic City Lions are incredibly proud to offer scholarships that support the future of our youth—a milestone made possible by the dedication and hard work of members over many years,” said Jalisa Tinnes, Magic City Lions Club member and scholarship committee representative. “Their commitment to service and community has laid a strong foundation that continues to grow. We were especially honored to award our first two scholarships to two exceptional young women, and it brought us great joy to support them as they take the next steps in their journeys. Supporting young people has always been at the heart of our mission, and we remain passionate about investing in the next generation of leaders.”

Selection for scholarship awards for the Magic City Lions Scholarship was based on the applicants’ demonstrated commitment to community service, school involvement, and strong character—qualities such as honesty, respect, and responsibility. Applicants were also asked to express their dedication to continuing their education through a personal essay.

“It is always exciting to establish a new scholarship fund and see community organizations pour their resources into area youth. We are excited to partner with the Magic City Lions Club for years to come,” remarked Jason Zimmerman, MACF President.
